Our history

fry was founded in 2000 by Zahid Malik and Marcus von Scotti.

As former researchers in the Engineering department of Imperial College we held responsibility for developing the university's research tools.  At that time we were working with an incredibly new and powerful technology building the kind of web-based tools that would be taken for granted today. We were keen to form a business that incorporated the same kind of work freedom we had experienced at Imperial.

We found we also held a common interest in the work of Ricardo Semler, CEO of Brazil's fastest growing industrial business SEMCO. A leader thinker in the area of workplace democracy he inspired us to start our business based arond a very different model.

Some of fry's earliest  developments included a real-time property search engine; a wireless menu-ordering system; and one of the earliest SMS short-code marketing systems.

These days Open Source technologies and our rapid development techniques have enabled fry to create innovative solutions and the freedom to give clients what they want. This has allowed us to offer large clients the same innovative service and cutting edge thinking at a small business price tag. We are continuing to grow rapidly and organically, almost entirely through word of mouth.
